The Journey Continues 2CD Set
Volumes 1 and 2 were released as a double CD on the 22nd December 2020 and titled ’13 Towns (The Journey Continues)’. See press release.

Blues Jam
Piet used to love to jam on the Blues, as evidenced by many gigs that I attended over the years. This tune covers similar ground to ‘Llandudno Blues #13’ which appeared on Live At The Nile.
— Brian Currin
Love Sick
‘Love Sick’ was written by Bob Dylan and released by him on Time Out Of Mind in 1997.
It was covered by Johnathan Martin and No Quarter on the In My Blood album in 2007 (though Spotify shows the release date as 2020).
— Brian Currin
Hurt
Written by Trent Reznor, and recorded by his band Nine Inch Nails in 1994, appearing on the The Downward Spiral album.
Completely reinvented by Johnny Cash with help from Rick Rubin and released on American IV: The Man Comes Around in 2002.
— Brian Currin
Heroes
Written by David Bowie and Brian Eno and released on the Heroes album by David Bowie in 1977.
— Brian Currin
All Along The Watchtower
A song written by Bob Dylan which appeared on the John Wesley Harding album in 1967.
Made famous when reworked by Jimi Hendrix and released on Electric Ladyland in 1968.
— Brian Currin
Crossroads (hidden bonus track)
Piet leaves the stage with the words; “play… I’ll catch you boys later”, then the rest of the guys led by Jacques Groenewald jam on Robert Johnson’s ‘Crossroads’ obviously inspired by Cream’s 1968 version.
Blistering guitar solo from Johnathan. And there’s a short drum and bass duet from the powerhouse engine room of Paul and Tertius, before it all winds down. “Se bietjie ou blues” shouts Jacques. Indeed! One of the highlights, for me, of the STRAB Festival in 2006, was seeing the Jack Hammer power trio (just Piet, Duke and Bean; second guitarist Tonie had missed the border closing) performing this song.
— Brian Currin
Press Release, 24th December 2020
13 Towns, The Journey Continues

For Piet Botha & Jack Hammer, the month of December always involved touring “coast to coast and up and down that crazy road…” This year, they’re still bringing their music to the fans, in the form of 13 Towns (The Journey Continues) double live album.
Following the release of Vol. 1 on online platforms earlier this year, Vol. 2 is now also available.
Even better, Vol. 1 + 2 can also be purchased in CD format from Johnathan Martin, Bean, Duke or Jake Gunn.
If you are in the Helderberg area you can also go grab yourself a copy at the Soul Café in Strand.
